![]() It is believed that changes were made to the BGM routes minutes before the Facbook services started experiencing problems. Although the source of the problem is yet to be officially confirmed, there is the suggestion that the snafu can be traced back to something called Border Gateway Protocol, which essentially chalks out the path that data travels. Mike Schroepfer - Chief Technology Officer at Facebook - has also tweeted further confirming that the services are finally returning to normal, while adding the the fix might take some time to reach all users. Users should try to refresh the page if they are accessing any of the aforementioned Facebook services on the web, or try closing the respective apps from the task switcher and launching the app once again to see if things are back to normal. Reports of issues regarding Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are flooding in from many countries, including the US, Middle East, Europe, and Asia, as the outage does not appear to be regional. It is unclear what exactly is causing the problem, but the outage appears to be. According to the Outage Report website, in the last 20 minutes, 1,100 complaints have been received from 81 countries about WhatsApp alone. Downdetector only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher.
